I believe life serves you what you need for a reason, with perfect timing, whether you like it or not. As a baby, my oldest daughter suffered from colic. It broke my heart to listen to her cry every night for 4 hours straight for months on end. I tried it all, but in my lowest moments I had a calling to a profession that I experienced before and that intrigued me, a modality called Osteopathy.
... so I followed this passion and it led me to University where I studied Kinesiology. It wasn't until many years later that I actually discovered Osteopathy - I fell in love instantly! At the time I was on maternity leave from a high stress job in the medical device industry. That was it! .....without hesitation, I changed my career to become an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner.
Osteopathy & Pregnancy
During the second year of my Osteopathic training I gave birth to my second daughter. I was treated Osteopathically throughout my entire pregnancy and it was so incredible to see how this modality made such a difference in my pregnancy and delivery. A week before my due date, I went into labour the night after my very last Osteopathic treatment and the labour and delivery happen so naturally. From day one she has been the happiest kid!
My hands have become my greatest gift to my family to help with healing.
Helping with congestion for colds, growing pains, sore tummies, fevers, ear infections, sore necks and backs ….the list goes on. It ignites my soul to be able to help others become “unstuck” and allow their body to do its thing and heal naturally.
Osteopathy Before, During & After Pregnancy
An Osteopath aims to helps a woman’s body perform the most natural and normal processes during conception, pregnancy and child birth.
baby, reduces aches and pains and minimizes congestion and swelling (which is quiet common as the blood circulated through the body is 50% more during pregnancy).
The Birthing Process: During birth, a range of factors influence the baby’s position and transition through the pelvis. If the mother's pelvis is twisted or rigid it can alter the baby’s passage through the birth canal. Osteopathy works to balance bones and muscles of the pelvis and lower back and mobilize the rib cage and improve breathing. This provides optimum conditions for positioning, descent, and passage of the baby through the birth canal during delivery. Osteopathy also works to balance the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, which play an important role in controlling the uterus and cervix during labour. Osteopathic care can also help enhance the release and delivery of hormones, assisting the body to go into labour naturally.
Osteopathy for Infants: Osteopathic treatment of infants relieves strain related to the birth process and assists the baby transition into life outside the womb. The birth process involves tremendous forces which are transmitted through the head and body of the infant. Osteopathy helps relieve these structural strains form the birthing process. Treatment can help improve movement of bones, tissue tension, circulation of fluids and functioning of the nervous system.
The premise of Osteopathy is to use gentle body work to facilitate the bodies own healing capacity (how mother nature intended). Nat brings a soulful approach to her practice and understands that healing is much deeper than just physical. She is dedicated to inspiring and empowering others to
find health from within and lead a fulfilling life. Nat is happy to call Alton her home and believes in the power of community.
