We couldn't be happier to welcome Daniela to the Lifetime of Love Doula team. She will be joining us in the capacity of birth and postpartum doula. We look forward to our clients falling in love with her as much as we have!
How is it even possible that 2017 has come to an end?
This month, Sarah and I will be celebrating our 2 year anniversary as work wives - and my, what a journey it has been! Our honeymoon phase has long passed and we spent the early part of 2017 learning how to work smarter, got into a great groove and began functioning like a well-oiled doula machine!
The process of hiring a doula is easy! Whether it's through the website, our Facebook page, or our Instagram account - once you get in touch with us, you're in great hands!
From there we offer a complimentary consult which gives you a chance to get to know us, and gives us a chance to learn more about you and your wishes for your pregnancy, labour, delivery and postpartum period.
We look forward to the opportunity to support you!
2016 was a big year for myself and Sarah - not just professionally, but personally as well. I always tease and call Sarah my work wife, but as business partners, our relationship can sometimes mirror that of a married couple, and we have supported one another through personal loss and professional success over the last 12 months.
Our culture perpetuates a lot of stereotypes around birth. A common misconception that we come across is that doulas are portrayed as hippies or that the women who hire doulas are hippies themselves. This stereotype suggests that doulas only support families who want natural, home water births - and this is simply not the case!
In the first of our Video Blog series, Carol Anne & Sarah talk about the perpetuation of this myth and why for the modern, professional doula, this is simply not the case.
a behind the scenes look at our day on camera
For many years, Carol Anne and I worked as solo doulas but after taking the HypnoBirthing®: The Mongan Method Practitioner training course over a year ago we started teaching classes together. Our students loved the atmosphere and vibe we created and started asking, “Can we hire you both as our doulas?". From there we combined our businesses and this recent spring officially became Lifetime of Love Doula Services Inc. At first, we blended our two styles, but this summer we have been toiling away on an exciting re-brand and relaunch. As some of our clients have noticed our website is looking snappier and vibrant, and most importantly, we added some new and improved photos!
These are no stock pictures y'all! Thanks to a midwife with a big heart and a team of talented artists, we had the opportunity to do both a photo and video shoot.
“I love when you talk about your work because your eyes just light up!” My best friend said this to me this past week while I was drawing a picture of a baby, placenta, umbilical cord in a
uterus on the paper-covered table top at Jack Astor's. Our waiter was probably less excited, maybe even grossed out as I explained to my friend about how the placenta detaches from the uterus after a baby is born.
How many people can say that their eyes “light up” every time they talk about their job?
In my industry, we talk a lot about “empowering women”. As doulas, it is our hope and goal that women have a good birth experience in which they feel safe, respected, and above all empowered - empowered to make decisions that are right for her particular needs and the needs of her baby, and empowered as a woman who does not simply “get through” a challenging experience, but rocks it!
